Adossat quay or WTCB: find your terminal first

There are seven cruise terminals in Barcelona. On the Adossat quay stand Terminals A, B, C, D (Palacruceros) and E (Helix) together with the MSC terminal, a dedicated building for MSC Cruises, while WTCB is on the Barcelona quay. Look up the exact terminal on your boarding documents and include it in your request, since the two quays are separate drop points.

Drivers may set down passengers and luggage at the terminals, but parking there is prohibited. Expect a quick unload, so put tags on bags before you leave the hotel.

From El Prat straight to the ship

The port and Barcelona-El Prat are about 15 km apart, normally 20-30 minutes. Group coaches load either on Floor 0 Arrivals at T1 or at the docks of T2A and T2C, and smaller parties meet in the arrivals halls, on Floor 1 at T1 and Floor 0 at T2B. On a fly-and-sail day leave a generous margin, because a slow baggage belt usually costs more time than the drive does.

A night or two in the city before sailing

Many passengers spend some time in the Gothic Quarter or Eixample before boarding. Inside the city, any vehicle carrying nine or more seats, counting the driver's, must hold a Zona Bus permit for the day, and stops at sights such as Park Güell and Sagrada Família have to be booked in advance. If you would like a short tour on the way to the port, mention it early so the operator can reserve the stops. The cruise shuttle bus is there for individual travellers, but a group with cases usually prefers one vehicle from hotel to quay.

Questions

Can the driver wait while we check in?

No. Vehicles are not allowed to park at the terminals, so the driver unloads you and your bags and then drives on.

Can we stop at Sagrada Família on the way to the ship?

Yes, if the Zona Bus stop is booked in advance. Allow for the visit and the drive on to the quay.

Is a minibus big enough for cruise luggage?

A typical minibus seats 16-19 with a rear luggage compartment. For a full group with large cases, a midi coach with underfloor bays may be the better fit.
