From Eleftherios Venizelos to Syntagma

Athens International Airport lies about 33 km from Syntagma, normally 35-60 minutes. A pre-booked vehicle picks its group up either in the Arrivals-level pick-up zone or by the Short Term 1 parking, and such vehicles have a waiting area of their own in the airport Retail Park. Barriers control the kerb zones and allow a ten-minute stay, which suits a group that is ready to leave.

Linking your hotel with Piraeus

Plenty of groups come or go by sea. Piraeus has two cruise terminals, Themistocles and Miaoulis, and an open coach parking area close to the cruise terminal, and the drive from the airport to the port covers about 45-50 km. If you spend a night in Athens before sailing, staying in Makrygianni or Syntagma keeps the morning short.

Sounion, the Corinth Canal, Nafplio and Delphi

Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon are 1-1.5 hours away, lovely late in the day. The Corinth Canal takes about the same, Nafplio and Mycenae around two hours, and Delphi 2.5-3 hours, a long but memorable day. With a driver, the group can doze on the way back instead of navigating.

Is a minibus better than a coach for Athens?

For groups up to around 16-19, often yes. A typical minibus seats that many, and a smaller vehicle is easier to bring close to hotels in Plaka or Kolonaki.
