The environmental zone and number-plate cameras
Copenhagen shares its environmental zone with Frederiksberg, and a diesel bus inside it needs either Euro VI or a particle filter. Foreign vehicles are held to the same rules as Danish ones, and cameras reading number plates do the checking. The Copenhagen zone grew outward on 1 March 2025 as far as the Tårnby municipal boundary, so it now covers a wider area.

From 07:00 until 19:00, buses can park much as cars do. Overnight, between 19:00 and 07:00, they are limited to signed heavy-vehicle spaces, so a late dinner in Indre By needs a plan for where the vehicle waits while you eat. A lot of tourist-bus spaces are for setting down and picking up only, so expect the driver to leave and come back rather than wait outside.
Kastrup arrivals
The centre is about 8 km from Copenhagen Airport, a drive of between 15 and 30 minutes. After customs, every arriving passenger walks out through the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, which makes it simple to gather a group, and pick-up is on the forecourt of Terminal 3. Coaches stop outside Terminals 2 and 3. The M2 metro gets to the centre in about 13-15 minutes, so a private transfer makes most sense for groups with luggage, children or tight onward plans.
Kronborg, Roskilde and a hop to Malmö
Kronborg Castle at Helsingør is 45-60 minutes away, Frederiksborg Castle at Hillerød 40-55 minutes, and Roskilde 35-50 minutes. Malmö, over the Øresund Bridge, is a 40-60 minute drive, which puts Sweden within an easy afternoon.
Questions
Can the driver wait outside Tivoli?
Often not right at the entrance, because many tourist-bus spaces allow only setting down and picking up. The driver drops you near Central Station and comes back at a time you agree.
Does the environmental zone apply to a minibus?
The rules target diesel buses, which need either a particle filter or the Euro VI standard. The operator confirms how your vehicle is classed before the trip.
Can you run shuttles to Bella Center?
Yes. Bella Center is in Ørestad, and hotels there or around Vesterbro keep the daily shuttle short.
