Environmental labels and Distrito Centro
Across the whole of Madrid, the low-emission zone bans vehicles that have no DGT environmental label. Distrito Centro, the historic core, has its own stricter zone, where buses and coaches need one of three labels: CERO, ECO or C. Ordinance 2/2026 (BOCM, 6 April 2026) opened Distrito Centro to tourist coaches carrying a label, so a compliant vehicle can now bring your group into the streets around Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace.

Municipal coach spaces and short stops
SEA Madrid looks after 272 municipal coach spaces, and they come in four kinds: 5-minute, 15-minute and 2-hour bays, plus long-stay ones. Dropping a family at the Prado needs only a 5-minute bay, a guided visit fits a 2-hour space, and a long-stay bay covers a whole day while the driver waits. Picking the right bay for each stop is part of planning the day, and it keeps the walks short for older travellers.
Barajas: terminals and meeting points
Barajas lies about 15 km from the centre, 20 to 45 minutes by road, and spreads over five terminal buildings, named T1, T2, T3, T4 and T4S. Aena gives a meeting point in the T1 arrivals hall, Floor 0. Private coaches may use the T4 bus station and its 30 docks, and T1 has a bus parking area of its own. The IFEMA fair grounds are close to the airport, handy for trade-fair teams flying in on opening morning.
Toledo, Segovia and El Escorial
San Lorenzo de El Escorial is around 55 km, 45 to 60 minutes. Toledo is about 75 km and Segovia about 90 km, each an hour to an hour and a quarter. Ávila, about 110 km, pairs well with Segovia for a longer day.

Yes, provided the coach displays one of the CERO, ECO or C labels. Distrito Centro has admitted labelled tourist coaches since Ordinance 2/2026, while anything without a DGT label is banned from the whole city.
