Private transfers for Venice cruise terminals
Cruising from Venice has changed. Larger ships now berth away from the historic centre, so the transfer is longer and knowing your terminal matters more. We arrange minibus and private transfers with partner operators who know Fusina, Marghera and the city's coach rules.
Fusina, Marghera or Marittima
Decree-Law 103/2021 keeps any ship over 25,000 GT away from Marittima and San Basilio, so larger vessels are sent instead to the quays at Porto Marghera or to the Fusina Terminal. Find out which one your cruise line has given you, as the drive and the drop-off point are different. There is an authorised coach car park at Fusina, which keeps the handover simple. Tell the operator the name of your ship as well as the terminal, because its size decides where it can berth.

The ZTL BUS rules on the way in
Coaches serving the port are subject to the Venice ZTL BUS scheme, which needs a pass from AVM; a vehicle lacking one is confined to passing along the Mestre bypass and the link road to the airport. Inside the zone, stops happen only at authorised boarding areas and car parks. The People Mover links Tronchetto, the Marittima area and Piazzale Roma, useful for small-ship passengers heading into the centre.
Marco Polo and a night before sailing
Marco Polo Airport is about 15-20 km from the cruise terminals, 20-35 minutes by road. A night before sailing takes the pressure off a delayed flight, and a hotel in Mestre keeps the morning drive short. If you would rather spend the evening in the historic centre, plan the water bus or walk with luggage carefully, then meet the vehicle at Piazzale Roma.
Questions
Can a minibus take us to St Mark's before boarding?
No road vehicle reaches St Mark's. The usual route is a stop at Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma, then the water bus. Tronchetto coach parking is limited to one hour, so plan the timing.
Can we be dropped at Marittima?
Only if your ship is 25,000 GT or smaller. Larger ships use Fusina or Marghera.
Which airport should we fly into?
Marco Polo is closest. Treviso, about 40 km from Venice, also works for a transfer.
