River cruise transfers for groups and families
A river cruise often begins and ends in cities far from where you land, sometimes in a different country altogether. We arrange private transfers and minibuses with licensed partner operators to join up the flight and the ship.
From the airport to the embarkation quay
Most river cruise passengers need a transfer from the airport to the quay named in their cruise documents. Budapest's airport lies roughly 20 km out, usually 30-50 minutes; Vienna's is about 18 km, 25-45 minutes; and Amsterdam Schiphol about 18 km, 20-40 minutes. Send us the quay address and boarding time from your paperwork, and the operator will plan the route and the set-down.
For a couple or family, an executive car or van is simplest. A group of friends or a club travelling together fits comfortably in a minibus, with the cases in the rear compartment.

Crossing a border between flight and ship
A river cruise often begins in one country and ends in another, and the most convenient flight may not land where the ship sails. Vienna to Budapest is about 245 km, usually 2.5-3 hours, and Bratislava Airport is about 80 km from Vienna. A transfer that crosses a border counts as an international occasional service, and the operator needs a Community licence for it, which we check when booking.
Allow a sensible margin between landing and boarding time, particularly for longer cross-border runs.
Private excursions on a shore day
If you want a private outing during the cruise, perhaps a day in the countryside while the ship is moored, any local excursion abroad has to be written onto the journey form before the vehicle sets off. Last-minute additions are therefore harder to arrange, so tell us your plans as early as you can, even if they are only a rough outline.
